Description
A familiar scent, nostalgic for many, elderflower is sweetly floral with an indefinable tang - unexpectedly rich and spicy, almost waxy. The elder tree, short and gnarled, comes into bloom around May, its pale flowers unfurling their delicious scent along our hedgerows, in our woods and fields, and in our gardens, where it was traditionally planted to ward off the devil.
