The name rosemary, romarin in French, is beleived to come from the Latin ros marinus, which means ‘dew of the sea.’ This refers to its abundance on Mediterranean coastlines and islands, where it grows wild, scenting the air with its cool freshness. In Tunisia, wild rosemary is so beloved that it’s protected by the government. At Ffern, we work with a local firm to bid on wild harvesting rights, and extract the oil at source.
