Hand-carved from reclaimed walnut wood by object-maker and artist, Sophie Sellu of Grain & Knot, this sculptural candlestick is inspired by the beaver-gnawed trees that grow at Knepp Wilding in Sussex, our collaborators for Spring 26. Created at Sophie’s South London studio, each piece is unique and made exclusively for Ffern.

Sophie Sellu
Sophie Sellu is a London-based woodworker who handcrafts tactile objects from reclaimed and storm-fallen timber. Using traditional hand tools and techniques, her practice embraces a slower pace of making, allowing each piece to evolve gradually in response to the character and history of the wood.
The fragrance
Spring 26 was created in partnership with Knepp Wilding - capturing the heady tangle of green and white that crowns the rewilded land in spring. Petitgrain and timut pepper evoke the luminous dawn, while broom and tuberose call up clouds of blossom. For the wild meadows we paired valerian and elemi.
