Handmade with a mix of fresh green wood and aged relic oak sourced from local woodlands, this one-of-a-kind milking stool was made by woodwork artist Alex Walshaw in his year-round outdoor workspace. Carved with concentric, interlocking hares inspired by medieval designs, Darkest Depths Moon has been iron-mordanted and flame-treated to give an aged appearance. Commissioned to celebrate the moonlit moorlands that inspired our Autumn 26 fragrance.

Alex Walshaw creates furniture and functional objects from storm fallen and reclaimed wood, as well as wood grown through coppicing, an ancient and sustainable method of woodland management. Shaping his creations with simple hand tools such as axes, knives and adzes, Alex believes in leaving traces of his woodworking practice on his creations. He lives and works in rural Lincolnshire.
For Autumn 26, we have bottled a moonlit moor. With the smudged, spacious quality of twilight, this lunar fragrance shimmers with lavender, iris and violet leaf. Warmer notes of tonka and immortelle capture the honeyed scent of heather - a hare’s-eye view.
