Gurjun balsam is a natural resin drawn from trees of the Dipterocarpus genus, native to the forests of Southeast Asia. Like many resins, it’s obtained through tapping the tree bark - a traditional and sustainable extraction method that allows each tree to rest and replenish for months or even years before being tapped again.
In perfumery, gurjun balsam lends warmth and fluidity to a blend. Softer than Peru or Tolu balsam, it carries a woody depth with smooth, leathery undertones - a quiet resin that binds and rounds without overpowering.
