Our hay absolute derives from the sun-dried grasses Lolium perenne, also known as English Ryegrass. Grown and harvested in France, the plants are cut and left to dry in the summer’s sun as hay - a time-consuming process that releases coumarin from the fresh green shoots as they turn.
Once cured, the hay is macerated, beginning the solvent extraction process. This yields a dark and viscous liquid with a herbal, almost tobacco-like honeyed base.
