Juniper berries are not in fact berries, but the seed cone produced by female juniper trees. To make juniper oil, the 'berries' are plucked once a year, then dried and ground before undergoing steam distillation. We source our juniper oil in Slovenia, but the evergreen juniper tree can be found throughout the Northern Hemisphere. With its balsamic, fresh scent, juniper is reminiscent of the rich aroma of the forest floor.
