WINTER 19 INGREDIENTS
In Tunisia, Rosemary grows in the wild and is protected by the government. At Ffern, we work with a local firm to bid on wild harvesting rights, and extract the oil at source.
There’s a saying in Sicily - Lemons are not real lemons unless they’re Sicillian. Having sampled lemon oil from all over the world, we concur. Hence, we source lemons from a family farm on the Island.
Mentha x piperita
A cross between Water mint and Spearmint. We partner with farmers in the Yakima Valley, Washington, to grow and steam-distil our high grade peppermint oil.
In Haiti vetiver oil is helping to rejuvenate the local economy. 150kg of Vetiver roots makes 1kg of Vetiver oil. Ffern Vetiver comes from Les Cayes in the South of the country, and is grown by a collective of local farming families.
Our ‘Lavandula Angustifolia’ is grown by a network of family farms in the hills of Provence, France, at 600-1500m above sea level. It is distilled locally with Robert’s solvent extraction method.
Scentless when fresh and native to Asia, Patchouli is a member of the ‘Lamiaceae’ or Mint family. Our Patchouli is hand harvested on the Indonesian Island of Java.
We take douglas fir needles from Canada, and extract the absolute in France. The note is very long lasting, and it comes to prominence circa 2 hours in to Winter 19.
Citrus x sinensis
We extract our Sweet orange oil from cold pressed Hamlin oranges grown in the Minas Gerais ‘Orange Belt’ of Brazil.
Ffern Bergamot are grown on the southern tip of the Calabria region in Italy, on hills overlooking the mediterranean sea - one of few places in the world where Bergamot can grow.
The French ‘King of Herbs’ - our Tarragon, or ‘Dragon Sagewort’ is grown in Southern France, and harvested in June. The oil is extracted at source.
Ffern works with locals in Northeastern Madagascar to grow, hand harvest and water distill the Clove Bud Oil used in Winter 19.
Handpicked at night to preserve intensity - our Jasmine Sambac is native to a small region in the Eastern Himalayas. The oil is extracted at source with Joseph Robert’s solvent extraction process.
Red juniper is a coniferous evergreen native to Northeastern USA. We harvest Red juniper in Virginia, when the plant is young, and steam distil the wood to extract a pure Red juniper oil.
Oakmoss is not in fact a moss, but a lichen. Our Oakmoss is foraged by locals in the hills of Samokov, Macedonia, and transported to Grasse where the oil is extracted by a family run distillery.
Boya Oud is taken from the heartwood the tree, the richer the oil. Our oud comes from 25 year old Aquilla trees grown in Assam, India, and undergoes a 65 day extraction process.

OUR TRIAL SYSTEM
All bottles ship with a samle vial set into the outside of the box. Try the sample vial at home and decide whether or not to open the main bottle.
If it’s not for you, that’s fine. Simply return the unopened main box with our free returns label & we'll replace it with a bottle from our next release (or we'll issue a refund if you’d prefer).
