About
Ambrette seed is a perfumers ingredient, used by Ffern across 1 fragrance. It is typically considered to be a Base note. You can view our full ingredient directory here.
Description

Also known as musk mallow, ambrette seed oil is a wonderful plant-based alternative to musk. Added to this, it has a persistent scent that makes it an excellent fixative in fine fragrances, making the scent last longer. The aromatic ambrette plant is native to India; it has pale yellow, hibiscus-like flowers with purple centres. Its hairy seed pods, containing several kidney bean-shaped seeds, are dried before undergoing steam distillation to produce the essential oil we use in our fragrances. We work with ambrette seed growers in San Martín, Peru, a region dominated by forest ecosystems rich in biodiversity and agroforestry.
