Liv and Dom are ceramicists, artists, and identical twins who live in Lewes, East Sussex. Their playful, decorative ceramics draw inspiration from antiques, folk art, and traditional craft. Their work celebrates ornament, storytelling, and the enduring charm of handmade objects.
For 2026, we invited Liv and Dom to create four seasonal enamelled artworks to be set into the lid of each of this year’s Perfumer’s Candles - pieces inspired by folktales and symbolic imagery. For Spring 26, they’ve created a Romanesque foliate head, a symbol of spring’s renewal.
Our work is feminine, eclectic, whimsical, maximalist and timeless.
We used artistic movements that evoke the seasons to inspire each of our designs; Romanesque for spring, Pre-Raphaelite for summer, Arts and Crafts for autumn and Symbolism for winter.
It feels very natural to move through the seasons with our work - we’re endlessly inspired by seasonal flora, folklore and feeling.
We can easily emulate each other’s styles, over time this has led to blending our two approaches to make our shared ‘signature look.’ Our working together feels very instinctive and we can be very honest with each other, in a way only sisters can be!
Inspiration can come from a season, a story, an intriguing antique, a single colour, a flower, a piece of old lace, a word…
The best collaborations take us out of our usual medium and way of working. We were excited to design something bold and evocative of a season on such a tiny scale. We were conscious that we needed to put as much thought and time into each design as Ffern does with their scents.
The small town of Lewes is steeped in history. Many artists have called it their home over the years, it feels right to be creating in such a place.
The relaxed pace of life and peaceful nature of the South Downs is perfect for keeping our creative energy gently flowing.
We love making an edible memory of the season to keep! Making foraged plum jam in the height of summer, picking and drying mushrooms in autumn, making a batch of sloe gin in the winter.
Dom: I love sticking my nose in an elderflower when it’s in full bloom.
Liv: The gentle coconut smell of gorse flowers when you rub them between your fingers.
